How to write an effective CV

The CV is the first business card with which you present yourself to companies. For this reason it needs to stimulate the curiosity of the recruiter in order to be invited for an interview or selection. A good CV is not enough to get a job, but it can be a symbol of professionalism and it allows you to make a good first impression; moreover, after the interview, the curriculum can be used as a good reference point to remind the recruiter your qualifications, skills and most important abilities.

A CV should be:

  • Personalized, with respect to the job ad that you are applying for
  • Short, maximum two pages
  • Well-ordered, clear and schematic. It must be easy to read, which is why we do not recommend the use of different font sizes and colours.

Information that must be included:

  • Personal data
  • Studies
  • Foreign language skills, specifying the level
  • Computer knowledge
  • Work experience, including business internships, the name of the company, the role, starting and finishing dates, the description of the main tasks and / or responsibilities. Begin with the more recent experience and add one by one the previous ones
  • Availability for work
  • Useful personal information such as hobbies, volunteer work and other activities.

We recommend using the Europass CV, a specific model of curriculum vitae promoted and validated in recent years by the European Union.

Finally, it is important not to forget to include the authorization to use the information for privacy legislation, with the phrase: "I authorize the processing of personal data contained in my curriculum vitae according to art. 13 of Legislative Decree no. 196/2003 ".
